Our Difference

Taste The McKenzie Difference

The way we see it, life’s too short top spend eating something you don’t feel good about, or giving into a product that you don’t quite trust. And in our one hundred-some years of taste testing, wood smoking, oven roasting, handcrafting and re-handcrafting each and every product, we’ve made it our mission to serve up something better, healthier, and more wholesome. Because we take business personally.
Be good and do good

At McKenzie we pride ourselves on hitting our standards of crafting the highest quality, most delicious meats and cheeses. We hand select only the finest ingredients and premium cuts of meat from a small group of farmers and trusted suppliers. With a rigorous set of checkpoints and safety measure, if our product does not meet our standards, you will not see it in your stores.

When you purchase McKenzie meats and cheeses, you are bringing home food that you can feel good about serving your friends and family.

McKenzie Premium Meats & Cheeses

Crafting authentic flavors with simple, wholesome food values.

Our Natural Artisan Deli Line

All our products are made with the same attention to quality and flavor, though not all of our products are all-natural.

Our line of all-natural products is McKenzie Natural Artisan Deli, identifiable by the orange packaging in the deli case. These meats and cheeses are crafted with care so you can have food you can feel good about without sacrificing quality for the benefits of all natural and antibiotic free. All of the meats and cheeses are sourced from independent farms where they raise animals with no antibiotics ever or a vegetarian gran fed diet.

When you choose McKenzie’s Natural Artisan deli meat, that’s just what you’re getting. All-natural deli meat. Not meat plus hormones, meat plus antibiotics, or meat plus anything but all natural, locally sourced ingredients like Vermont maple syrup and premium spices. It’s not just the tastiest way to do business; it’s the only way we know how.

It's in our history.

In 1885, John married his beloved Nellie an Irish farm girl. In 1898 they immigrated to rural Vermont to fulfill their dream of running their own farm. It flourished and included smokehouses for slow curing country hams. Nellie began giving hams as holiday gifts to neighboring farms. Word got out of their extraordinary quality and flavor. Soon the orders started coming and the founding of the John McKenzie Packing Company was established in 1907.

Much has changed in this world, but some things are too good to replace. Today, we are still going to extraordinary measures to bring you the best meats made the old-fashioned way – based on John and Nellie’s farm methods for naturally hardwood smoking hams and using locally sourced Vermont maple syrup for authentic flavor. We continue this tradition of bringing you authentic flavors with simple, wholesome food values. Attention to the little details served our family well back then, and that same integrity in our process and product continues to act as our compass today.
